Successful Barbeque/Awards Day

Despite the rain, hundreds of HT players and parents enjoyed the annual prize-giving and barbeque day on Saturday 16th June.

The Ken Williams Memorial Pavilion (right) was put to good use with ‘DJ Jazzy’ Waldron operating the PA from the balcony, the kitchen being used to prepare food and for pre-cooking the burgers, the downstairs servery was the soft drinks bar whilst grown-ups enjoyed the adult version upstairs. The multi-use room downstairs provided space to lay out the salad and sauces whilst the barbequers had to endure the elements outside.

They had started under cover of HT’s 10-year old white gazebo but a crash of poles 45 minutes in signalled the end of that plan as a gust of wind lifted then crashed the conopy to the ground in a mangled heap! The servers and cooks carried on regardless – full credit to everyone there.

The awards were made between 3 and 4pm with HT Chairman Baldock bravely proclaiming that “the skies are brightening, we’ll hold it outside!” And he was spot on …. For 30 minutes. Then the heavens opened, just as our guest of honour, Hazlemere Parish Council Vice-Chair Judy Weaver, was making the presentations to our youngest players – the under 5 and under 6 Academy. But everyone soldiered on doggedly through the conditions, proudly exhibiting that “Jubilee Spirit”.

HT Lions June 2012

Each team manager presented their trophies for:
 – Manager’s player of the year      – Most improved player of the year and   – Players’ player of the year

HT Mariners June 2012

League Runners-up medals were presented to Mariners (left) , Lions (right)  and Thistle.

Geoff Hutchinson is this season’s Clubman of the Year. As well as managing the HT Knights to great success this season, Geoff has been heavily involved in schools liasion, discussions with the local Council on the use of facilities and in the review of youth football (under the FA’s Your Kids your Say programme).

Bottles of Holy Trinity wine were presented to Richard Lodge for his fine work with Rangers and as minutes secretary, and to Danny Oliver for his amazing coaching skills with Dragons and Falcons – 40 kids in perfect harmony – astonishing!

HT Thistle June 2012

Adam Thomas collected the Manager of the Month trophy for May for leading Thistle (below right) to their Cup win, 2nd in the League and the Plate victory in the Sixes.

Managers have got copies of the programme, one for every child, so if you weren’t there please collect it from your Manager. It contains the reports on all the teams for this season. Additionally, anyone from the Academy who wasn’t there should see Chris Bis who has their medal.

So finally, thank you to everyone at HT for making it another successful season, and to all the players and their parents for your continued support.

We start again on Saturday 1st September at 9.30 am. Have a great summer and enjoy the remaining England games!
