All Change for Next Season

CCJFL LogoAs has been mentioned here before, the FA’s new “child friendly” proposals for youth football will start to kick in for season 2013-14.

This new approach will phase out the one ‘season long competition’ for young players and bring in a mixture of learning opportunities. Leagues such as the Chiltern Church Junior Football League (“CCJFL”) will be given ownership and some flexibility to run different approaches to competition in order to capture the attention of young players in a modern way.

How this is adapted for our use has yet to be agreed by the CCJFL committee who will discuss this on 22nd April. However the important parts of the new rules are:

  • U7-U10 will play 4 quarters of 10mins.   U11 and U12 will play 4 quarters of 15min.  Others ages unchanged, ie halves.
  • U7 will be 5v5,  U8-U10 will be 7v7,  U11-12 will be 9v9.  Other ages 11v11.  U7-U12 squad size to be no more than double the max team size.
  • U7-U9 will play three “child friendly competitions”, format to be decided, interspersed with friendlies and training.   U10-U16 unchanged (league season and cup).
