Football Fun Day – Sunday 18th August

A charity event worthy of plenty of support is taking place on Sunday 18th August at the Hazlemere Recreation Ground.

Steve SmithThere will be a 12-hour football match taking place between 8am and 8pm and you can either play in this or just come along to support the event. All proceeds are going to the Beating Bowel Cancer charity in memory of the late Steve Smith.

Many of you will have known Steve Smith, many of you will not have.  Steve was part of the first ever HT Juniors sides when just a handful of children played at the C of E school.  At the age of 15 he was then part of the first Hazlemere Sports adult side.  He played for the club every season.  He became an integral part of the team and could be seen regularly behind the bar (see picture right) as well as being club treasurer.

Last year Steve was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer.  In June this year Steve passed away.  He had begun to arrange a 12 hour football match to raise money for beating bowel cancer.  The match will still go ahead, sadly Steve will not be around to see it.

With the help of his friends and family we are holding Smiffy’s Football Fun Day at the rec.  This will take place on the 18th August.  The game will start at 8 in the morning.  Players can play for as little or as long as they wish.  There are different slots available, I have included information about each slot below.  Prices start from £6 for adults for 1 hour and £10 for 2 hours.  Children can play for £4 an hour.

As well as the game, there will be a beer tent, barbecue, bouncy castle and other attractions.

Please lend your support and be part of this special day.
