Save Our Pavilion – Action Needed

Over 900 have now signed this petition launched by the Hazlemere Sports Association:

Pav7-300x200“To all our Members & Supporters:

In our last newsletter, we highlighted the action taken by Hazlemere Parish Council through their legal advisers to terminate our tenancy of the Ken Williams Memorial Pavilion with effect from May 2014.

Your committee has concluded that we cannot afford their future lease proposal at a ludicrously high annual rent of £40,500 with full repairing lease obligations instead of the annual peppercorn rent agreed with the previous Council before HSA took up occupation of the new pavilion in 2010. In addition, this peppercorn rent arrangement was agreed by the previous Council with HMRC as a condition of the construction costs being zero-rated for VAT.

However, we haven’t given up or thrown in the towel. Too much is at stake. Furthermore, we continue to explore the legality of the council’s actions. We would like to thank the 40 plus people who took the trouble to write to us unanimously expressing their dismay at what the council is doing. If you would like to see the full comments please email us at action@hsal.co.ukand we will be pleased to send you a copy.
