Champion Knights

KnightsHT Knights became champions of the U13 Blue Division following their 9th straight victory to retain their 100% record in the league campaign. A 3-0 victory at Cowley Warriors provided suitable symmetry for the Knights whose season started with a win against the same team back in September. Since then a fantastic effort from the entire Knights squad has seen them record 11 victories from 11 league and cup games, scoring 72 goals and conceding just 11.

Operating a rotation system to accommodate a large squad, every single one of our 21 players has made a terrific contribution to winning the league, with 20 of the players scoring at least one goal this season.

Our two goalkeepers, Jonny Sutton and Nathan Wainman have been magnificent, rising to the challenge of protecting huge, full-sized goals. They have marshalled their defence superbly and have also managed to score a couple of goals each when playing outfield!

Defensively the Knights have been very solid and have conceded just one goal in the last 5 games. Although everyone takes their turn in defence, the ‘usual suspects’ to perform the heroic unsung defensive duties are Alex Littlewood, Ciaran Harris, Daniel Grimmett, Raphael Prinz, Sam Read, Toby Bennett and Oli Stonehouse.

In midfield, captain Jonah Sharma has provided a solid screen in front of the defence, Daniel Holmes and Matthew Richards have provided touch and creativity whilst Adam Hutchinson, George Tarrant, Jake Roberts, Sam Rints and Tomas Lipinski have dazzled from wide positions.

The fearsome Knights strike force of Daniel Harris, Dunsin Oderinlo, Rhys Pepperral and the swashbuckling Oliver Baldwin have given opposition defences nightmares all season.

The boys set themselves some tough targets at the start of the season and they are well on the way to achieving all of them. The team are now looking forward to the last few matches of the season and a cup semi final but for now they can feel justifiably proud of their achievements so far – their efforts have been rewarded with a first ever league title.
