From a Dragon to a Wanderer?
One of our Under8 lads, Josh Oliver, who plays for Holy Trinity Dragons, has just signed Centre of Excellence forms for WWFC for next season.
I
ts a massive achievement for Josh – in effect proving himself to be one of the best players in the local area at his age.
Couple of pictures attached taken from this last weekend’s tournament up at WWFC where both the Dragons and Falcons (U8’s) represented the club superbly well.
It is a good thing that the Club have got Josh, a product of the Holy Trinity Academy, to this level and demonstrates that we are able to nurture talent at a young age.
Update on former HT Junior – Alan Massey
Former HT Junior Alan Massey joined Ryman Premier League side Wealdstone on loan from Wycombe Wanderers in August 2007 and played in 24 first team matches, scoring 2 goals, before being recalled by the Football League club in November 2007.
He rejoined the ‘Stones’ in July 2008 after being released by Wycombe and has now made over 175 league and cup appearances for their first team. So far this season Alan has played in nearly all of their matches and is now one of their longest serving current players.
Alan was Wealdstone’s ‘Player of the Year’ in the 2008/09 season.
Saturday night was a good night for charity
Gareth “Gaz” Ainsworth, the captain of Wycombe Wanderers sang at a charity gig held at Adams Park on Saturday 16th July, which raised about £3,200. These funds will help renovate a school in a remote and poor part of Brazil. as well as research into cancer. A donation will also be given to the Wycombe Wanderers Community Trust, which does so much good work every day in the local area.
The 38-year-old footballer (who used to sing in his own band) teamed up with local band Subrosa5 (a band that includes three die-hard Wanderers fans) and they entertained the packed Vere Suite with some classic rock covers with Ainsworth taking lead vocals.
The evening started off with a Hog Roast and later three comedians performed on stage as part of a fun-filled night which also included a fun quiz, DJ set, auction and raffle. All proceeds will go towards Cancer Research UK and Project Brazil, which last month saw volunteers renovating a school in a remote part of that country while also raising funds for clinical research back here into neuroblastoma.

One of those 20 volunteers and the organiser of this charity event, is former HT Junior now 23 year old Matt Cecil. Matt now works as a Media Assistant at Wycombe Wanderers and after jumping out of a plane last year in aid of servicemen’s charity took on this new exciting challenge for 2011 by joining the Project Brazil team.
If you were not able to make the event, then you can help Matt’s fundraising via this link http://www.justgiving.com/mattcecil87
Marvellous Monday for our Knight Daniel
Eight year old Daniel Holmes who plays for Holy Trinity Knights (team picture right)
was a match day mascot at Wycombe Wanderers on Easter Monday.
Daniel, who was nine the day after and attends Hazlemere C of E school, led out the home side for their match with Crewe Alexandra. The Chairboys then went onto win 2-0 with two goals from Scott Rendell (inc 1 penalty)
Daniel would have been one of the Holy Trinity Knights on the Wycombe pitch the previous Saturday for the half time penalty shoot out – see separate feature below. His favourite Wycombe player is skipper Gareth Ainsworth.
Alan scores for the Stones
Former HT Junior Alan Massey has been a first team regular for the past 3 seasons at Wealdstone FC, who play in the Ryman Premier League.
Whilst his main job is to keep the goals out, the big defender did recently manage to score his first goal of the season in a 3-3 draw at home to Canvey Island.
The match report states that…..”four minutes later Wealdstone doubled their lead when Alan Massey charged forward from a great 5 man move and when his initial shot was saved it sprung up nicely for the defender to head home into a gaping net.”
Those who saw Alan play in his days at the Hazlemere Rec will remember him “charging forward” and scoring goals from distance that other lads could only dream about! Well done Alan, keep going forward!
Former HT Girl is Soccer AM Soccerette

18 year old Lana Hurford was a star on Sky Sports Soccer AM programme last Saturtday morning.
We knew her as Alana when she played for Holy Trinity Hazlemere Girls at Under 14 level a few years ago and she is now training to be a police officer.
Her favourite Wycombe player is Kevin Betsy – pictured right . Lana admitted that her bedroom walls are adorned with pictures of Kevin. Hopefully he will soon return the compliment with some match winning goals for the Chairboys!
During the tv show Lana took part in Soccerette Mastermind and answered correctly 7 questions on her chosen subject of ‘Wycombe Wanderers since the year 2000′. She claims not to have missed a Wanderers game for 3 years – probably since stopping playing for HT Girls!
Ex-HT Juniors skydive for charity (Update: Mission safely Accomplished)
Two brothers, Matt and Dan Cecil who both played for Holy Trinity Juniors in their teens went skydiving for charity on Wednesday 6th October .
Matt (23) and Dan (20) both jumped out of a plane at 13,500 feet, initially freefalling at almost 140mph before their parachutes opened bringing them safely to the ground. This was to raise funds for ABF The Soldiers Charity.
ABF supports individuals who have served our country and returned home either injured or unable to support themselves financially due to their courageous commitments in the forces.
Dan and Matt are pictured above after their jump (safely back at home) and below during their descent.
Former HTJFC boys making the ‘big time’
Latest news on former HT Rose Avenue player, Alan Massey who is now with Ryman League side Wealdstone FC having previously been in the first team squad at Wycombe Wanderers.
Age 21 Alan joined Wealdstone on loan from Wycombe Wanderers in Aug 2007 and played in 23 first team games scoring 2 goals before being recalled by the Football League Club; he also spent a short spell on loan to Hendon.
Unfortunately for Alan things did not work out at Wycombe and he was released at the end of the 07/08 season. He re-signed for the Stones, on contract, in Aug 2008 where he won player of the year for 2008/09 and he has now made over 140 appearances for the Club
Andrew Perring (formerly Holy Trinity Academy) was at Queens Park Rangers and in season 2009-10 captained their Youth team, playing in midfield.
James Hancock is on the books at Chelsea
Matthew Goss (formerly HT Sharks) is now playing for Wycombe Wanderers Under 13s
Matt goes from Sharks to Wanderers
Great news to see our youngsters getting noticed by our local League club!
Our latest member to sign for Wycombe Wanderers is 12 year old Matt Goss who has been playing for Holy Trinity Sharks for a number of seasons.
In April 2010 Wanderers signed up Matt on a 2 year contract after he really impressed the club with his skills. The Head of Youth Development told Matt that he had done extremely well to get in at the age of 12 as it’s quite rare now for a club to take someone in that late!
Matt was still able to be part of the HT Sharks team that went on to complete a cup and league double in season 2009-10
We wish Matt all the very best for his future and will be monitoring his progress and bringing you updates when we can.
